A two-dollar bill issued by the La Crosse National Bank in 1875 has sold for more than 20-thousand dollars.
A consignment auction house says an Illinois collector and investor bought the bill. The collector wants to remain anonymous.
The uncirculated bill was sold by another collector.
Some local banks chartered by the Comptroller of the Currency issued money from 1863 to 1935. The bills have become popular with collectors because of their scarcity.
