Are Revenue Caps Hurting Wisconsin Schools?
Wisconsin superintendents say the state-imposed revenue caps are forcing schools to delay building projects, cut teachers and slash academics.
The Wisconsin Education Association Council and the Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators surveyed about 300 superintendents.
Seventy-three percent say they had to delay building maintenance and improvement projects last year because of the caps. Sixty-nine percent say they had to lay off teachers. Fifty-two percent say they had to cut academic courses.
Teachers union president Stan Johnson says something has to be done because the caps are destroying public education.
