A priest found dead over the weekend was recently questioned by Hudson police about the 2002 murders of two funeral home employees in western Wisconsin in Hudson.

The Catholic Dioceses of Superior says the Reverend Ryan Erickson committed suicide. The 31-year-old was found hanged yesterday morning at St. Mary of the Seven Dolors in Hurley.

The dioceses says Erickson denied he was involved with the murders.

Daniel O'Connell, director of O'Connell Family Funeral Home, and intern James Ellison were found fatally shot in an office at the Hudson business in February of 2002.

The diocese says it was recently advised Erickson was questioned about the deaths, but police aren't saying anything about it.

Erickson spent time at churches in Ladysmith and Hudson before arriving in Hurley.
