Ziegler Conflict of Interest Case

A special panel of state appeals court judges will hear arguments Monday over a conflict-of-interest case involving a state Supreme Court justice.

As a Washington County judge, Annette Ziegler heard cases involving a West Bend bank on which her husband was a member of the board.

State judges have to withdraw from cases where they have a significant financial interest that could raise questions about their impartiality.

Her attorneys acknowledge a mistake was made, but they say it was corrected and won't occur again.

Ziegler says she should be reprimanded but nothing more.

The state judicial commission agreed.
