Horse Killed

Before gun deer season begins this weekend, area horse owners want hunters to know exactly what they're shooting at before pulling the trigger.

"I went down to the horses and found a boarding horse that I do board here, a little 15-month-old stallion buckskin that had been shot almost practically through the heart with a bullet," says Big Sky Ranch Owner, Susan Marcottt.

Marcott reported the crime to the Eau Claire County Sheriff's Department, but that provides little consolation.

"It's such a tragedy, it's really hard for all of us. We just want everyone to be aware that we are entering deer season please be careful with your horses," says the horse's original owner, Shirley Nitz.

If you have any information on the horse shooting, you can contact the Eau Claire County Sheriff's Investigative Department.
