Doyle Proposes New Initiative

Governor Doyle's "Grow Wisconsin" plan is entering its next phase. Doyle is teaming up with the University of Wisconsin-Madison to propose a new initiative.

The initiative will focus on biotechnology, info technology, and health services. Doyle says he hopes to expand on Wisconsin's leadership in these fields of study.

"This is going to be a major part of the WI economy in the future, and I want to make sure that WI stays in its premier place in the country, in the world in research," says Gov. Doyle.

Doyle says ensuring that UW-Madison has the most modern laboratories possible will encourage scientific collaboration across multiple disciplines. The Initiative will also focus on improving the ability of scientists to engage in cutting edge research and promote academic discoveries.
