At a time where health insurance costs are affecting nearly everyone, the Chippewa Valley is above the rest in terms of high costs.
The study from citizen action of Wisconsin Ranks the major cities and regions of the state on health insurance costs.
The Chippewa Valley pays 15 percent more for insurance than Madison the metropolitan area with the lowest costs.
The La Crosse region was ranked 6th of 15.
On Tuesday, Senator Pat Kreitlow and Representative Jeff Smith heard from concerned county board members and business owners pushing for a plan.
Smith and Kreitlow both say that if "Healthy Wisconsin" or a similar plan would pass in Madison, these high costs would go down for low income families and small businesses.
