The condition of the only survivor who remains hospitalized following the slayings at a deer hunting site in Sawyer County is improving.

St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield upgraded the condition of Terry Willers from fair to good Thursday. The other survivor, Lauren Hesebeck, was released from the hospital earlier this week.

Six others in their hunting group died after they were shot Sunday. Chai Vang of St. Paul is being held in the Sawyer County jail in Hayward on a two-and-a-half million dollar bond. He claims he was racially taunted and shot at after the hunters told him to leave a tree stand on private property.
