Babies Turned in After Law Enacted

By  |

The Safe Haven Law allows frightened mothers to confidentially leave unharmed babies, up to three days old, with any hospital employee, police officer, or E.M.T. in Wisconsin without prosecution.

The non-profit group Safe Place for Newborns is set up to let people know about options under that law.

David Whooley, treasurer of that group, says since the law was passed in 2001, 24 babies have been turned in.
