Marathon County Deputy Resigns

A Marathon County sheriff's deputy resigned after officers arrested him for drunk driving and crashing last weekend in the Wausau area.

Sheriff Randy Hoenisch says Deputy Kent Johnson resigned during a meeting Thursday about what kind of discipline he might face.

Johnson, 39, walked away from the scene of the crash and called a co-worker, who called his boss and sent a Kronenwetter police officer to investigate.

Johnson was arrested, booked and released.

He'll make an initial appearance in Kronenwetter’s Municipal Court next month.
