Husband-and-wife owners Paul and Carol Hinderlie and business partner Tom Ahlstrom say they'll leave the Harbor View Cafe in the fall to run a Lutheran retreat in Washington state.

The good food with the unpretentious presentation at the cafe attracted everyone from the late King Hussein of Jordan, Lady Bird Johnson to the Reverend Billy Graham.

They all knew and followed the house rule: Tables are always first come, first served.

Paul Hinderlie says King Hussein was treated for lymphatic cancer at Minnesota's Mayo Clinic about 34 miles southwest of Pepin and often visited the restaurant over the last few years of his life.

Hinderlie says he'll miss the regulars.
