A Wausau high school girls basketball coach in Wausau will be tried on accusations he had sex with a 15-year-old player.

A pretrial hearing Thursday determined 40-year-old Mitchell King will be tried on 10 counts involving sex with the girl, including five counts of second-degree sexual assault of a minor.

King's lawyer said his client will plead not guilty.

King is a social studies teacher and coach at Wausau West High School but has been suspended.

According to the criminal complaint, the girl says King first sexually assaulted her in his truck after giving her a ride home from golf practice in April.

It says he sent the girl letters saying he loved her more than his wife and that the assaults continued over the summer.
