Two western Wisconsin families have a new place to call home, thanks to a little help from the community.
The Chippewa Valley Habitat for Humanity chapter dedicated two newly-built homes Saturday afternoon. One is in Mondovi, and the other in Altoona.
The five-bedroom house in Altoona will be home to a family of 11 in the next few weeks.
Leaders for the local Habitat for Humanity chapter say partner families are selected based on need and their willingness to help build their new home.
"The excitement is building,” said Sharon Hostak, with Habitat for Humanity. “Today, we're dedicating two homes for two families to move in for Christmas. We have another one in Chippewa we're moving in come January. We couldn't be more excited."
The Chippewa Valley Habitat for Humanity chapter has built nearly 20 homes for needy families in the area since 1991.
