Saturday, a pair of Eau Claire firefighters held a fishing benefit with the proceeds going to the victim's families. Approximatly 2,000 fisherman came to Chetek for The Rice Lake Hunters Memorial Ice Fishing Contest.
Contestant's tried to land the big one on the Pokegema and Prairie Lakes in Chetek. For those who turned out, their catches were weighed and participants with the biggest fish were awarded prizes. One fisherman was able to haul in a 15 pound Nothern Pike which had everybody's attention.
Family events director, Tim Jubie says it was great to see a nice turnout for such a good cause. "What were trying to do is raise money, there is still a continued need. And every event we get involved in and help coordinate is in an effort to help the families through this crisis."
