A chain of banks is accepting donations for the Altoona man whose house went up in flames on December 19th.
Any Associated Bank will take contributions to the fund for Chris Helmreick. He has multiple sclerosis and lost his scooter in the fire.
He also lost holiday gifts, and clothing.
Helmreick needs assistance for mobility and has a tough time walking.
Firefighters say a candle that burned down on a plastic shelf is what caused the fire. Helmreick got out safely.
