Habitat for Humanity Dedicates Newest Home

The bitter cold isn't keeping one area family from celebrating their new home courtesy of Habitat for Humanity.

The organization's 20th home in the Chippewa Valley was dedicated today to the Gunderson family.

"It's pretty emotional, we're very happy and we've had a lot of help, great volunteers, our friends have pulled through, our families have been wonderful. I'm just happy everybody's here to share this," says home owner, Laurie Putnik.

Construction began on the three bedroom home in mid May. The Gunderson's had been living with Laurie's mother for the past several years, they say they are thrilled to have a place of their own.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization building and renovating affordable homes for low income families. Volunteer labor and donated materials are used in the homes when possible.
