Fire Damages Historic Trempeauleau County Building

Fire broke out in Galesville's historic downtown square Monday night.

A blaze gutted the upper two floors of a building and extensively damaged the lower floors. The building sits between two other structures built in the 1800s.

The upper floors of the building had been converted to apartments. Residents huddled on a nearby sidewalk last night, some crying over the loss.

The lower level housed Allied Health Chiropractic Center and Jean's Style Salon.

Firefighters from eight neighboring departments in Trempealeau County helped battle the blaze.
