"Tsunami" Name Dropped at Wisconsin Dells

A Wisconsin Dells water park is dropping the word "tsunami" from one of its attractions to show sensitivity to last month's Indian Ocean disaster.

Wilderness Hotel and Golf Resort will change the name of its Great Tsunami outdoor wave pool, which opened last July.

Company spokeswoman Heidi Fendos says the resort's owner, the Lucke family, made the decision. That's because they heard reports of new estimates that as many as 272 thousand people could have died or gone missing from the December 26th earthquake and tsunami in South Asia.

Wilderness is also dropping plans to name a new outdoor water slide scheduled to open this summer as the Hurricane.

The resort's sales and marketing director, Joe Eck, says the company doesn't want to offend people when they're on vacation.
