The flu season usually affects schools and offices with missing staff and students.
Now it's also taken a cut into the local blood supply.
Officials at the American Red Cross say flu activity in February is causing serious collection shortages as potential donors stay home under the weather.
Officials say they are way below their typical five day supply and to help with the shortage, workers at the local blood collection center are encouraging more first- timers to give donating a try.
There will be a bloodmobile drive on March 25 at First Lutheran church in Eau Claire.
