The struggles continue for the Durand school district, Durand now has the task of figuring out what school to close in the district.
With the public's input the school board, on Wednesday, decided to consolidate schools at the start of the 2006-2007 school year. They've been facing the problem of declining enrollments, which gives them less revenue from the state.
Governor Doyle, while in Elk Mound Friday, said he'll include help for declining enrollments in the budget, but it's a problem he can't completely fix.
Doyle says his education task force is looking into that issue many rural schools face.. and they're making recommendations to him.
