Doctors upgraded the man hit by a car in La Crosse on Monday to serious condition.

Investigators say 38-year-old Kent Stephenson is recovering at Gundersen Lutheran hospital.

Police say a car hit him on Highway 35 Monday night and threw him 60 to 70 feet and that it appears the man was in the middle of the road when he was hit.

The driver of the car wasn't hurt.

It’s still under investigation.
