After waiting almost a decade for a new computer system, the Department of Motor Vehicles is asking law enforcement not to rely on Wisconsin’s computer records on vehicle registration.

An area supervisor says motorists and law enforcement officers have been patient.
"The only light at the end of the tunnel is we don't do this everyday," says Donald Shilts. "Hopefully it's another 20 years before we have to do another conversion like we're doing now."
Shilts says although less than 4,000 registrations have been affected, the department hopes to correct the problem soon.
