Family and friends are remembering the man who died in a mobile home fire Thursday night near Cadott.
Chippewa County Coroner Kay Gerrits says 24-year old Lonny Amdahl of Cadott died of smoke inhalation.
19-year-old Josh Walters says his roommate was the type of guy who would do anything for anyone. 15-year-old Branden Bathke says his uncle was always there for him. Both say they'll never forget him.
"There was nothing I could do. It all happened so fast,” Walters says.
Thursday, Josh Walters could only watch as a fire tore through the mobile home that had collapsed onto his best friend.
Friday, Lonny Amdahl's loved ones shared smiles and tears as they talked about their friend.
"He was like my bigger brother. I would've done anything for him as he would've for me. The man had a heart of gold," Walters says.
He says his roommate had four children. His youngest was born just days ago. His nephews say he was like a father to them, too.
"He's always been there since I was born,” says Bathke. “We always hung out with him since I was crawling."
Amdahl loved wrestling
"He was always there for me like a father, taking me to all my matches,” Bathke says. “That’s my favorite thing about him.”
He loved football
"He’d really crack you up. He’d make you laugh about watching all the games," Bathke says
And he had a passion for farming.
"We had a dream of building a farm. He just got offered a job to run a farm not far from now," Walters says. “That’s what he always wanted. He’d have given anything to farm.”
Lonny Amdahl's friends and family say the thing they'll miss the most: The good times they shared over the past 24 years.
"He was a great man. He will be greatly missed as a father, a friend, a son and a farmer,” Walters says.

NewsCenter 13's Original Report:
24-year-old Lonny Amdahl from the Cadott area died Thursday night after a mobile home collapsed on him and caught fire.
Chippewa County Coroner Kay Gerrits says Amdahl died accidentally of smoke inhalation. She says he had no fractures from the collapse but that his body was burned after he died.
It happened north of Cadott, just west of Hwy 27 near the intersection of 122nd Ave. and 250th St.
Chippewa County Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk says Amdahl and 19-year-old Josh Walters were dismantling a mobile home just before 6 p.m.
The sheriff tells us they had a fire burning nearby to throw pieces of scrap into.
Investigators say while they were working, the mobile home's ceiling and a wall collapsed, trapping Amdahl beneath it. Walters says he called out to Amdahl, but when he didn't get a response he ran to a nearby home to call 911.
The Sheriff says by the time Walters got back to the mobile home it was on fire and there was nothing he could do to help Amdahl.
Investigators say some debris from the mobile home caused the fire to spread.
The Chippewa County Sheriff's Department along with Cadott Fire and EMS and Anson Fire got to the scene ten minutes after the 911 call.
After crews put out the fire, they found Amdahl's body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
