When you think of donating to food drives, it's usually non-perishable items like noodles, canned vegetables or cereals.
But a month-long drive benefiting the Hope Gospel Mission is asking for just the opposite.
Gateway Chiropractic Center, along with Festival Foods, is sponsoring the "Fill the Fridge" campaign and are asking the community to donate perishable food items, like meats, cheeses, and dairy products.
Brent Hafele says the mission provides 18,000 meals to homeless residents during a one year period. "The food is also a way for us to provide a first step of hope for our residents. We feed them physically before we feed them mentally or spiritually or emotionally," says Hafele.
Donations can be made at the Gateway Chiropractic Center Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. or at Festival Foods on Saturday, March 26. The drive ends April 15.
