Unemployment is down in eleven of Wisconsin's 12 metropolitan areas.
State labor officials say the job market improved in all areas but Janesville-Beloit.
Unemployment there was 9.6% in January compared to 6.5% a year earlier.
The jump is attributed to a temporary shutdown of the local General Motors plant.
Unemployment decreased in Eau Claire, Appleton, Fond du Lac, Green Bay, La Crosse, Madison, Milwaukee-Waukesha, Oshkosh-Neenah, Racine, Sheboygan and Wausau.
Appleton had the lowest rate at 3.1%.
