At least a dozen kids have been killed nationwide from fires or exposure to dangerous chemicals related to meth labs.
As a result two lawmakers are proposing legislation to help protect children from meth labs in their own homes.
Republican Assemblymen Rob Kreibich and Terry Moulton are proposing a bill that would terminate the parental rights of Wisconsin residents who are convicted of making meth in the presence of children.
Kreibich says once meth producers have lost those rights they're gone even if they get rehabilitated.
Nearly 40 lawmakers have co-sponsored the bill and a committee hearing will be held on the proposal in the next few weeks.
