WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) -- Nearly 150 Wisconsin soldiers have arrived back home, just in time for the holidays.
A WISN-TV report (http://bit.ly/1cyFWx2 ) says 146 troops with the U.S. Army's 372nd Engineer Company arrived in Waukesha County on Tuesday. They were greeted by an auditorium full of cheering, tearful relatives and friends.
The soldiers spent seven months in Afghanistan, mainly involved in infrastructure projects. They're members of the Army Reserve, and many are carpenters, masons or plumbers.
Sgt. Margaret Schultz says it's like having a prayer answered to be back with her family on Christmas.
Spc. Andrew Millie says he was so overwhelmed by the moment that he couldn't find the words to express how happy he was. His mother, Sarah Millie, calls her son's return the "best, bestest Christmas present ever."
