EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- For many, it's a Christmas ritual to enjoy breakfast with family and friends. That’s what hundreds of people did on Christmas day at the Community Table.
The 14th annual Pay It Forward breakfast was held Christmas morning at the Community Table in Eau Claire. Around 50 volunteers made it all happen.
The Bernan family is the mastermind behind the breakfast that started off as a small meal in a church and has grown to include food, presents, clothing and household items for people who need it most.
“This is what we work for all year. Tomorrow, we start again. We start getting ready for 2014 when you see the bright faces and the friends that you've seen for 14 years and you see how happy they are. That’s what makes it all worthwhile,” said John Bernan.
The family says they served over 400 people at this year’s breakfast and gave away hundreds of presents
