Wausau Teacher Fired For Alleged Sexual Assaults

A teacher and coach who faces charges of sexually assaulting a student has been fired by the Wausau school district.

The district had been paying benefits for Mitch King while he has been on unpaid leave from his job at Wausau West High School, but the termination ended those payments.

King faces ten felony counts including second-degree sexual assault and child enticement.

He's accused of sexually assaulting a student over the course of a year. She was a player on his girls basketball team. He's pleaded innocent.

The district says it based its decision on its investigation into his behavior, independent from the criminal investigation.

King is facing 10 felony counts including second degree assault and child enticement. His next court appearance is set for August.
