Rogers Brothers Waive Preliminary Hearing

The Rusk County District Attorney says a plea agreement may keep two men from going to trial in a 25-year-old murder case.

Fifty-two-year-old Harold John Rogers and 48-year-old Dale Rogers are charged with first degree murder in the death of Robert Pfeil, Jr.

In Rusk County court Tuesday morning, both men waived their right to a preliminary hearing.

District Attorney Kathleen Pakes says the brothers have cooperated with investigators and a plea agreement is in the works for their sentence.

"They've represented that they've been lining with this for a long time," says Pakes.

"They're at a point in their lives that they're ready to face consequences for something that happened 25 years ago."

Pakes also said that because of the Rogers' willingness to talk with investigators, charges may be filed this summer against other people in connection to Pheil's murder.
