On the first Friday of the month during the school year, seniors are invited for breakfast and a lecture on subjects ranging from health tips to digital photography or even music presentations.
With around one hunderd people participating in the program, those who attend say there's never a lack of company.
"Seems like there's a common tie sometimes. That people like to learn, they like the university things that are happening. They like the city," says Joyce Davis, a retired teacher who has attended since the program started three years ago.
"First Fridays" is free of charge, thanks to donations and grants from community organizations. It is open to the public, but won't start again until October. For more information, contact organizers at UW-Eau Claire at 836-4419.
