Area Guard Members on Alert

Another 1,500 Army National Guard members from around the state were put on alert for possible activation on Sunday. Several are currently stationed in western Wisconsin.

If any of the troops are called to active duty, they would likely be asked to serve for 18 months, including about one year overseas.

The units that were given alert notices include the 132nd Support Battalion--with men and women stationed in Eau Claire, Onalaska, Mauston, and Portage. An alert also went out to the 32nd Engineering Battalion in Onalaska, and the 105th Cavalry from Merrill and Antigo.

More than 600 National Guard members from the Milwaukee area have already been ordered to report for duty on June 6th.
