ST. PAUL (AP) -- Gold'n Plump Poultry Inc. has reached a $1.2 million settlement with workers who argued they should be paid for time spent putting on and taking off special safety clothing.
Attorneys say the settlement reached Thursday still needs final approval.
Processing and cleaning crews had filed a class-action lawsuit against Gold'n Plump.
The agreement allows workers to be on the clock while dressing and undressing, but Gold'n Plump gets to set time limits.
The settlement will be divided among as many as 3,000 workers at Luverne and Cold Spring, Minnesota, or Arcadia, Wisconsin. Eligible workers get 55 minutes of pay for every eligible week they worked between February 2001 and December 2007.
