Rice Lake Apartment Fire
A second person has died as a result of injuries from Tuesday's fire at a Rice Lake apartment building.
Fire officials say 27-year-old Daniel Matthew died Thursday morning. Matthews and a 4-year-old boy were both pulled from an apartment at 5 North Main Street Tuesday and airlifted to Regions burn unit in Minnesota.
The 4-year-old died Wednesday from his injuries. The fire chief says crews are still monitoring the remains of the fire that destroyed two buildings and caused smoke and water damage to a neighboring building.
Chief Jim Resac is expecting to announce the cause of the initial fire later Thursday.
