Neighbors want answers in murder case

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - 39 year- old Paul Oberle was found murdered in the yard of his Vine Street home by his father last Saturday after he got off his night shift at a local grocery store.

Although we know a suspect is being held, the police are still tight-lipped about the case.

All is quiet on Vine Street now, but on Saturday Eau Claire police were back on the scene even blocking off the road.

“I know they were out Saturday questioning people that go to work on their Saturday morning route," said neighbor, Daniel Ashman.

Ken Rogers who lives one block away from Oberle's house says he was interviewed by police along with others in the neighborhood.

"The fact that they haven't made an official arrest is disconcerting. Seems like it's taking a long time to put some evidence together," said neighbor, Ken Rogers.

Although a suspect is being held, neighbors say they're still on edge.

"We've got kids that's the big factor in the worrying. We've got a lot of kids in the neighborhood," said Ashman

Detectives say Oberle was found badly injured, but won't say how he was murdered because the investigation is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, neighbors say they wish the police would release more information about last week's murder.

"It would be nice maybe just a little bit more info to let people know exactly what's going on where they are with the investigation," said Ashman.

Police tell us more information will be released once they've made an arrest.

"Hopefully apprehend the perpetrator and bring him to justice," said Rogers.
