Wisconsin's congressional Republicans weren't among those in the G-O-P joining Democrats in passing a bill lifting limits on embryonic stem-call research.
While the Democratic members of the state's congressional delegation voted to support the measure, all Republicans from Wisconsin voted against it Tuesday.
Fifty Republican members of Congress joined Democrats in passing the bill.
President Bush is promising a veto. He says it would cross "a critical ethical line by creating new incentives for the ongoing destruction of emerging human life."
The bill allows the federal government to fund research which would require donated embryos to be destroyed.
