The City of Eau Claire could soon have a final plan in place for the Rod and Gun Park.
Monday night, the Eau Claire City Council held a public discussion on what could be the final plans.
The plans include making the park easier to get to and making it more accessible for the disabled. They also call for fixing unsafe buildings and bridges, cleaning up ponds and streams and adding playground equipment.
Eau Claire's Director of Parks and Recreation says once the plans are approved, the city can start budgeting for the projected $2 million project. Phil Fieber says the department will also start fundraising and applying for grants.
Fieber says the entire project will take 10 to 15 years. He says within three to five years, he hopes work will start in the park. The first things on the list of improvements include fixing the parking lot, completing a handicap accessible restroom and connecting the trails with others in the city.
The council is scheduled to vote on accepting the plans Tuesday.
