RCU Celebration and Expansion

RCU currently employes more than 175 employees at the new corporate headquarters in Eau Claire. Some were on hand with community leaders to celebrate the official opening of the building at a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday morning.

"This has got to be one of my proudest moments in my 20 years with the city of Eau Claire," says Mike Schatz, the director of Eau Claire's economic development. Schatz believes he couldn't have picked a better group to start the revitalization process. "Many people didn't think it could happen, but I think this is a testament that it is happening, it's going to happen and it's just going to keep getting better.

The building itself is fully staffed. Fourteen departments in eight other locations moved into this facility over the past year. As the building's exterior reflects Eau Claire’s future, the interior is decorated with pieces of Eau Claire's history past. Different artwork is scattered throughout as reminders of the city and RCU's beginnings.

"It's a dream that turned into reality," says president Charlie Grossklaus. "We have achieved that goal, but it's not done, we're not done. We need to continue to move on."

For Grossklaus, having staff in the same building will mean better service, but it will also make it easier to expand RCU offices to nine more counties. "We're looking at a branch a year for many years to come."

Those counties are Buffalo, Burnett, Dunn, Jackson, Pierce, Pepin, Polk, St. Croix, and Washburn.
