The State Patrol is asking for help from the public in the death investigation of Chippewa County Deputy Jason Zunker.

Zunker was hit and killed by a car on U.S. Hwy 53, near the Bloomer exit, while he was on-duty, assisting at the scene of a crash.

The State Patrol’s investigation has determined that an unidentified person in the southbound vehicle may have witnessed the collision. Investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating this person or any other potential witnesses in the area at the time of the crash.

Lorentz say, "We are trying to track down all those folks that did stop - some gave their names and some didn't, so we're looking for all those that stopped and gave us information but didn't leave us a name, to call us back -- so we make sure we do talk to everyone who was there at the time and at that scene."

If you have any information call the State Patrol’s Eau Claire Post at 715-839-3800 and ask for the Duty Supervisor.
