Nursing Faculty: It's the End of an Era

Sister Joel Jacobi w'll be leaving the Chippewa Valley to move to the Mother House for the Hospital Sisters of Saint Francis in Springfield, Illinois.

The Dean of the College said she's the last of the Hospital Sisters to leave Eau Claire. On Friday, her collegues presented her with a collage of pictures that depict changes in the university during her near 30 years there.

"I'm sure i won't be idle," Sister Jacobi said. "I'm not sure what i'll be doing, but it'll be more of a relaxed lifestyle than i'm having, I think?"

Before retiring 10 years ago at 76, Sister Jacobi had served as faculty, a department chair, and also started the Saint Francis Food Pantry in Eau Claire.
