NEW INFORMATION: Team continues to search St. Croix for boater

PRESCOTT, Wis. (AP) -- The search continues for a Minnesota man who likely drowned in the St. Croix River in Prescott.

Pierce County Sheriff Nancy Hove says 65-year-old Merriett Maul, of Welch, Minn., fell off a dock about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday. The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Maul was docking his boat with his wife and friends when he fell between the boat and the dock.

Divers used sonar equipment to try to find Maul, but have been unsuccessful so far.

PRESCOTT, Wis. (WEAU) - Rescue crews in Pierce County say they will resume the search for a missing swimmer in the St. Croix River near Prescott Wednesday morning.

Deputies say they responded to a call of a possible drowning just after 8 p.m Tuesday.

The Sheriff's Department says a 65 year old man was reported to have fallen off a dock into the river and did not come back up.

Tuesday night crews searched using sonar and diver's but didn't find the man.
