Large Contingent Of Wisconsin's Red Arrow Brigade Deploying To Iraq

The deployment of troops from the Wisconsin National Guard's 32nd Red Arrow Infantry Brigade will be the largest since 1961.

President Kennedy activated the entire 32nd Division during the Berlin Crisis.

About 460 soldiers from Second Battalion in Madison report to their armories August 10th. Another 670 soldiers with the First Battalion in Wisconsin Rapids report a week later.

They'll train at Camp Shelby in Mississippi before being deployed overseas. They'll probably be replenishing combat units in Iraq.

The latest mobilization from the Second Battalion, 128th Infantry involves units based in Fort Atkinson, Elkhorn, Oconomowoc, Hartford, Baraboo, Reedsburg and Watertown.

The units for the 120th Field Artillery involves units based in Mosinee, Marshfield, Clintonville and Stevens Point.
