Students from Lincoln Elementary School in Wausau were taken to local hospitals Friday morning after swimming in a pool.

A spokesperson from North Central Health Care Center says 45 kindergartners were taken to the hospitals with apparent chlorine inhalation after swimming in the center's pool.

The spokesperson says they were swimming as part of a community swim program when a pump broke and was restarted causing too much chlorine to go into the pool. The kids became sick and were taken to a hospital. One boy is listed in critical condition
