Two people were killed after a crash in Polk County Friday. The Polk County Sheriff's Department says 24-year-old Scott Schilke and his passenger, 23-year-old Heather Osborne, were killed when the vehicle they were in crossed the center line of U.S. Highway 8 in Beaver Township -- near Turtle Lake -- and hit a semi around 7 a.m. Friday morning. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver was not hurt.
A 44-year-old man from Dresser was also killed Friday morning, north of Somerset, when the driver of another vehicle lost control and crossed the center line. The St. Croix County Sheriff's Department says James Stone died after an SUV slid into Stone's van -- heading in the other direction - on State Highway 35, near the St. Croix-Polk County line. Stone died at the scene. The driver of the SUV was taken to a Minneapolis hospital.
