The Menomonie School District could move to cut two elementary schools this month due to a budget deficit.
Wednesday night the board of education held an open forum meeting.
Earlier in the week, Superintendent Jack Lewis told us the district needs to cut about $800,000 and is looking at closing Downsville and Cedar Falls Elementary.
One local parent said a solution may need a bigger picture than just making up the money this year
Glen Larock says, “With the deficit for the next three years, closing two elementary schools won't fix the problem."
The school board could make a final decision on the future of those two schools at a meeting next Monday.
