The Buffalo County Sheriff's Department says 50-year-old Bernard Walsky and 32-year-old Mark Helgeson were pronounced dead at the scene after falling 60 feet from a boom truck they were using to repair a silo in the Township of Canton.
"It seemed to be a malfunction in the boom truck in the upper arm of the boom," says Sheriff Harry Schreiner. "It seemed to be broken and then the upper half fell down, causing the injuries to the two persons in the bucket."
The owner of the property says the men began working on the silo around 6:00 p.m. Monday evening. When he went to check on them about 7:30 p.m., he found their bodies and called the Sheriff's Department.
