John Kell was killed near Haugen on Highway 53. He was traveling north, when he collided with a car going east on county road V. The driver of the car was not hurt.
Kell and his brother Tom were co-owners of the company which creates corrugated package materials to use for shipping products. The two brothers owned the company until last September when they sold it to the Appleton-based Great Northern Corporation.
"Mister Kell was a talented leader and a very generous man," said Chippewa Falls Mayor Dan Hedrington.
"His involvement with the UW System in Eau Claire and many many other things...he'll be very missed."
The company prided itself on community involvement, sponsoring scholarships, and hosting President Bush as he passed through the area during last years election. John Kell was 54.
