A Bangor man is accused of leaving his small children at a hotel while he went out drinking, before crashing into a car, and then running from police.
Campbell police arrested Barry Hastings early Saturday morning for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, hit and run, inattentive driving and carrying a marijuana pipe.
Police say officers drove past a crash involving two cars on French Island. A few minutes later they found Hastings running from the scene.
During the interview Hastings said he had left his 1-, 6- and 9-year-olds at the Best Western Hotel in La Crosse to go drinking. Police then cited him for child neglect.
Hastings was let out on a $600 signature bond. He'll be back in court, later this month.
