A scholarship fund is in the works to honor a deputy killed on a Western WIsconsin highway earlier this year.

In early January, a car hit and killed Chippewa County Sheriff's Deputy Jason Zunker on U.S. 53 near Bloomer. Deputy Zunker was directing traffic away from a semi fire. Now a pair of events are scheduled to raise money for the memorial and scholarship.

The events are set for Friday, April 11th and Saturday, April 12th at The View on Lake Wissota. 5 PM both nights. Food and entertainment will be provided.

In addition to the scholarship, money will also be put towards a memorial outside the Chippewa County Courthouse in Chippewa Falls.
