Hundreds of people came to say their final good byes to Specialist Charles Kaufman who was just 20 years old when he was killed on June 26 by a bomb in Baghdad.
The service was a proper military burial with attendance by state dignitaries, and the presentation of several medals including the Purple Heart.
Charles came from a large family in the Fairchild area. He finished his schooling at CVTC and it wasn't long before he joined the National Guard with his cousin Kelly and became a part of the 128th infantry, Charles' second family.
The past couple of weeks have been very difficult for the Kaufman family because they not only lost a son but his grandfather passed away a week before Charles.
Charles couldn't attend the funeral, but his family says they are together now.
